Foraging Pots

Rating: 3/10, I don't really understand what t his toy is about... I see Mel put food in there, but i can't figure it out. I just play with the pots by pulling them and watching them clink against each other.

Mel's Comments: Great foraging toy for those that actually understand it. Its interesting for the birds and entertaining. It stimulates their mind and physical self to try and stabilize the pots.

Composed of: Mini Wooden Pots, Beads, Marbella Beads, Plastic Buttons, Jute, and a Wooden Shape.

Chain Gang

Ratings: 6/10. Its fun to play with balls that won't fall to their death, but maybe that takes the fun out of it... I wish these were the kind that had the bells on the inside. The green chain is nice...

Mel's Comments: There are a bunch of toys like this in stores at relatively "expensive" prices. I made this for probably a dollar or two, if you divide all the costs of the parts. The chain was cut by my PVC pipe cutter, which made it really easy to cut, then i just inserted the slit into the ball so no toes would get caught. The itty bitty links were just extra, I kinda like it without them.

Ratings: 1/10, I don't know what to do with this guy... I play with his arms once, but never touched it ever again. He kinda scares me... and its like a miniature human. That hat of his is strange...

Mel's Comments: Total failure, I was going to make a "Jill" to go with it, but after seeing how Zippo reacted to this guy, decided not to even try it. Pretty simple to make. Just strung jute through the holes in the ball and tied beads on it.

Composed of: Wiffle balls, mini wooden pot, pony beads and Jute.

Wiffle Ball w/ Leather and beads

Ratings: 7/10 in the foot toy category, Love to bang my beak against this and send it flying! I can easily pick it up since its so light and throw it off my cage. I don't really chew on the leather string much.. but its nice to have.

Mel's Comments: Super easy and cheep to make. Can be used for the wee birds all the way to medium size birds.

Composed of: Wiffle Ball, Leather strip (vegetable tanned), and pony beads.

Materials avaliable at: Dollar Tree (wiffle balls avaliable seasonally), Michael's or other craft stores, bird fairs (leather).

Atomic Ducky

Ratings: 6/10, I don't play with this much, but sometimes the long strands of beads will attract me towards it. I like the munch ball on the bottom and like to toss it around. Sometimes I'll even perch on the plastic parts on the top.

Mel's Comments: Easy to make. Its made out of an Atomic Ducky Rattle from the Dollar Tree, pony beads, marbella rings (1/2"), mini munch balls, wooden beads, and some jute twine. It can also be used as a foot toy, the duck itself, for larger birds.
