Penn Plax Gear Rings toy

Rating: 10/10, even though this toy is about 3x my size I love it! The bell is my favorite part, I usually don't pay attention to the plastic parts except when I'm really excited. Then I just beak it a couple times.

Mel's Comments: I think he's gone a little obsessive with this toy. He rings it for hours...

Bell Balls

Its been a while, but I've got some old toys to post about. I seriously need to get Zippo some new toys. >.<; There's a Bird Fair coming up in July so I might be able to get some new stuff. I'm on the lookout too, of course, I've seen some I really want. =) Anyway... on to the toys:

Rating: 10/10, I love these balls, I especially like to throw them off my cage top or table. Sometimes they land in the trash! Therefore this is how they get lost... >.<; I have about four of these total, but I get to play with three for now. hehe.

Mel's Comments: Very good toy, good priced and they are easy to come by. However the right kind of ball is needed with the right type of bell. No jingle bells, I bought mine at an online bird store.

Planet Pleasures Balls and Stars Mini

(pic from the Perch Store)

Rating: 2/10. I don't really chew on this much, just a little bit on the strings. It is relatively new..so it may take a while.

Mel's Comments: Well priced, really cheep. Also its a good company.

Avaliable at: the Perch Store.

Foraging Pots

Homemade

Rating: 3/10, I don't really understand what t his toy is about... I see Mel put food in there, but i can't figure it out. I just play with the pots by pulling them and watching them clink against each other.

Mel's Comments: Great foraging toy for those that actually understand it. Its interesting for the birds and entertaining. It stimulates their mind and physical self to try and stabilize the pots.

Composed of: Mini Wooden Pots, Beads, Marbella Beads, Plastic Buttons, Jute, and a Wooden Shape.

Chain Gang

Homemade

Ratings: 6/10. Its fun to play with balls that won't fall to their death, but maybe that takes the fun out of it... I wish these were the kind that had the bells on the inside. The green chain is nice...

Mel's Comments: There are a bunch of toys like this in stores at relatively "expensive" prices. I made this for probably a dollar or two, if you divide all the costs of the parts. The chain was cut by my PVC pipe cutter, which made it really easy to cut, then i just inserted the slit into the ball so no toes would get caught. The itty bitty links were just extra, I kinda like it without them.

Composed of: Wiffle balls, chain, and itty bitty links

Mini PiƱata

(pic from the Squawk Store)

Ratings: 6/10, Chewable! Like to chew on it once in a while. Eventually I'll shred it. *muahaha*

Mel's Comments: Pretty Cheep Destroyable toy.

Avaliable at: The Squawk Store

Jack

Homemade:

Ratings: 1/10, I don't know what to do with this guy... I play with his arms once, but never touched it ever again. He kinda scares me... and its like a miniature human. That hat of his is strange...

Mel's Comments: Total failure, I was going to make a "Jill" to go with it, but after seeing how Zippo reacted to this guy, decided not to even try it. Pretty simple to make. Just strung jute through the holes in the ball and tied beads on it.

Composed of: Wiffle balls, mini wooden pot, pony beads and Jute.

Materials Avaliable at: Craft stores, Walmart, and the Dollar Tree.
